Just heard that Kerry allegedly called Bush to congratulate/concede.
I am glad that in the midst of this crushing defeat, that Daschle lost. The Democrats need a blood purge right now. Terry McAulliff (or however you spell it) should be out the door pronto. In fact, anyone associated with running the Kerry campaign, except possibly McCurry and Lockhart (both of whom have experience winning and breathed some of the only life that existed into this campaign), should be on the chopping block.
The Democrats clearly need a house cleaning at the top. The old guard should go or be purged from leadership. The Democrats need to select someone who is not afraid to stand up to Bush and be an actual opposition leader. Daschle was on his knees way too much after 9/11.
Who is that person? I have no idea.
But the Democrats need their own (younger) Zell Miller who will fire up the base and keep them organized through the next few years, so that we are not starting from scratch in '08. That, or the Clintons (as the only publicly recognizable leadership) need to start exercising control over the party to steer it in the right direction.
